I got my inspiration from Pinterest because I saw a lot of altered books and I really liked them. On my inside covers put a light in a whole page of darkness and wrote a quote that is about my boyfriend. He is also my best friend and helps me through all of my dark and scaries and my anxiety. The rest of the pages I painted with different colors and did a cool and a warm theme every other page. I also drew a tree because I thought it went well with fall colors on the page. I did a lot of gradients because I really like those and they're something I'm pretty okay at.
On my inside cover I used a makeup sponge to make the yellow and black gradient. On the second page I used a paint brush to make the squiggles and a paper towel that was crumbled up to make the burgundy splatter dots. On the third page I cut the pages into waves and painted them with warm fading to a yellow colors. I started with blue and faded through greens, then glued them together. On the last page of the first half of my book I drew a tree first in pencil then I went over it with a makeup sponge to create a blended thing of colors with reds, pinks, burgundies , and oranges. I learned how to blend my colors very well and I learned what colors go together. I also learned how to cut pages into shapes without messing them up. I also learned how to make splatters without flinging paint everywhere. I think I could have been a little more creative with some of my pages, but overall I really like how it turned out. In the second half of my book I think I'm going to add more quotes, and have more colors.

My inspiration for this project came from Pinterest. I saw a lot of stormy sky pictures and I really liked them so I decided that is the landscape I want. Then I tried to think of a way to incorporate a hand, and I thought that the stormy sky represents danger and struggle, so I put a hand coming from the sky representing God's hand. I also decided to add a man reaching to the hand to show how people rely on God to protect us from all of the bad in the world.
To create the landscape I drew the shape of my hills, then did my trees. To draw my trees I drew the shape of them then I bleed them to make them look like actual trees, not scribbles. To blend I used a blending stick and I used a pencil to draw them. To shade my sky I took a sandpaper board and got graphite from a pencil and put the graphite on the top of the page. I blended it down to create a fading look with a paper towel. For my clouds I used a stretchy eraser to make the shape of my clouds and then shaded around and a little on the inside and blened with a blending stick. To shade my hand I just used a blending stick and made the edges darker. In this project I learned how to shade. I learned how to make trees, and how to fix my cloud if they end up looking like a fish. I also learned how to draw a silhouette of a person, and how to shade hills. I also learned how to make a stormy sky with graphite. In this project I also learned that hands aren't that scary. I could have probably shaded more in my sky. I also could have blended the edges of my cloud better. |
