My group was me, Kenan, Bre, and Kaylie. We did a squid but it was supposed to be an octopus. The head turned out funny so it looked more like a squid.

For the camo project I had Bre and Kaylie in my group. We got a paper out of the little box of used paper and painted Kaylie's hand to match the paper. We used different shades of blue, red, and yellow to match the paper that we mixed the day before. Then we painted one solid color and added stripes to make the paint look like crayons.
A flower inspired me to make this bowl. I liked the petals so I made the edge of my bowl petaly. I painted it a light purple because that seemed like a color that a flower would be. I tried to make the bottom of the bowl like a bulb of a flower. The flowers I liked were tuplips and roses and I tried to combine them.
To make this we used white modeling clay and I did a pinch pot type thing, and then attatched a little platform to the bottom. I then just kinda pinched it into the shape I wanted and when it had a lot of clay in one place I cut it off. After I made the little petal thing around the top by pinching it and shaping it into the shape I wanted. Then I took the cutting tool and cut it into an even width. After it got fired, I painted it with glaze that was a light purple, and I painted the green coat on until we ran out and when more comes in I'm going to cost the rest of it. I learned that clay is a lot more difficult than I thought. I probably would have made it smoother and less lumpy. I also would have made it a little more even. I might have picked a darker color but the firing is supposed to make it darker. I also learned the three s's. Today on my personal project I colored all of my flowers and finished my project. I used a blue at the bottom to make it look deeper, then used a pink to fade to reddish pink at the top. I also colored the leaves on my flowers green.
Today I added color to my personal project. I colored the bones and shaded them with a black colored pencil. I also colored my vines and thorns.
The assignment was to carve fruit or shoes and I decided fruit would most likely turn out better so I carved an abundance of fruit. I decided my pineapple would be in the middle because it's a cute fruit and has a hat thing so it would be a focus. Then I decided it looked lonely so I added a few strawberries, a pear, an apple, some bananas, and a watermelon in the background. I think my favorite part to draw on paper would have been the strawberries, but they ended up being the worst to carve. My favorite fruit to carve into the styrofoam would be the pear just because it's made of simple lines.
For the project we used trays, plastic scooping knives, a little presser guy, a magazine to cover the table, a roller, and ink. The ink was a little messy but not too bad. I think my favorite part would be rolling the ink onto the styrofoam just because it was not stressful. The hardest thing was getting the prints centered on the paper. Overall is was an okay project. I could have done a little better at centering my images, and carving my pineapple. The leaves and little pokies could have been carved and drawn better. I like how most of my background fruit turned out but the strawberries could use a little work. I liked the project even though the carving was stressful because it's really permanent. I think it turned out pretty well. for my October personal project I think I'm going to draw a Skelton hand with flowers around it, or holding flowers. I wanted to this because it's Halloween month!!! I think the flowers will make the hand look less scary and represent that it was once a person. If it looks too happy for Halloween I might draw dead flowers, but I think the contrast between live flowers and a Skelton hand will look really good. For my background I might just have a solid color, or draw grass.
I got my inspiration from Pinterest because I saw a lot of altered books and I really liked them. On my inside covers put a light in a whole page of darkness and wrote a quote that is about my boyfriend. He is also my best friend and helps me through all of my dark and scaries and my anxiety. The rest of the pages I painted with different colors and did a cool and a warm theme every other page. I also drew a tree because I thought it went well with fall colors on the page. I did a lot of gradients because I really like those and they're something I'm pretty okay at.
On my inside cover I used a makeup sponge to make the yellow and black gradient. On the second page I used a paint brush to make the squiggles and a paper towel that was crumbled up to make the burgundy splatter dots. On the third page I cut the pages into waves and painted them with warm fading to a yellow colors. I started with blue and faded through greens, then glued them together. On the last page of the first half of my book I drew a tree first in pencil then I went over it with a makeup sponge to create a blended thing of colors with reds, pinks, burgundies , and oranges. I learned how to blend my colors very well and I learned what colors go together. I also learned how to cut pages into shapes without messing them up. I also learned how to make splatters without flinging paint everywhere. I think I could have been a little more creative with some of my pages, but overall I really like how it turned out. In the second half of my book I think I'm going to add more quotes, and have more colors. My inspiration for this project came from Pinterest. I saw a lot of stormy sky pictures and I really liked them so I decided that is the landscape I want. Then I tried to think of a way to incorporate a hand, and I thought that the stormy sky represents danger and struggle, so I put a hand coming from the sky representing God's hand. I also decided to add a man reaching to the hand to show how people rely on God to protect us from all of the bad in the world.
To create the landscape I drew the shape of my hills, then did my trees. To draw my trees I drew the shape of them then I bleed them to make them look like actual trees, not scribbles. To blend I used a blending stick and I used a pencil to draw them. To shade my sky I took a sandpaper board and got graphite from a pencil and put the graphite on the top of the page. I blended it down to create a fading look with a paper towel. For my clouds I used a stretchy eraser to make the shape of my clouds and then shaded around and a little on the inside and blened with a blending stick. To shade my hand I just used a blending stick and made the edges darker. In this project I learned how to shade. I learned how to make trees, and how to fix my cloud if they end up looking like a fish. I also learned how to draw a silhouette of a person, and how to shade hills. I also learned how to make a stormy sky with graphite. In this project I also learned that hands aren't that scary. I could have probably shaded more in my sky. I also could have blended the edges of my cloud better. |
